Disney+ made good use of their Super Bowl time slot with a two minute Falcon and Winter Soldier trailer.
Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan will reprise their roles as Sam Wilson (the Falcon) and Bucky Barnes (the Winter Soldier) to take down a few familiar villains from past MCU films and some new ones too. The pair will "team up on a global adventure that tests their abilities—and their patience."
The trailer opens with Sam and Bucky in some form of couples therapy to get them to work better together, but to the therapist's dismay what was supposed to be cooperation turns into an eye-staring contest. Viewers also get to see the former agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., Sharon Carter back in action too.
While Steve Rogers/Captain America (Chris Evans) gave Sam Wilson his shield at the end of Endgame after defeating Thanos and then going back in time to live out his life with Peggy, whether Sam will actually take up the mantle is still up in the air.
Regardless, Gotham needs a hero....wait, wrong movie, I mean...the world needs a hero. They need a Captain America which puts Falcon and the Winter Soldier back in the action.
The primary villain will be Baron Helmut Zemo, with Daniel Brühl reprising the role from Captain America: Civil War. Unlike the film, this time he will wear his iconic purple mask from the comics which viewers get a quick glimpse of in the new trailer. Looks like he's back to finish the job he was not able to complete in Civil War as we hear him say, "Superheroes cannot be allowed to exist. I have no intention to leave my work unfinished."
As for Steve Rogers...images of him made an appearance but no actual cameo from Chris Evans in the trailer. I don't want to think the worst but it's possible the super-soldier has passed since he was retired and of old age after the events of Endgame. Let's hope that's not the case.
