Marvel's New Eternals Trailer Gives Just Enough To Leave Us Wanting More

Watch the brand new teaser trailer for Marvel Studios' “Eternals” coming to theaters this November.

The trailer for Marvel's Eternals barely reveals anything, but there's still so much to talk about.

Even if you've heard or read about the Eternals before, the synopsis released for the movie in 2019 reveals that the characters may be slightly different from their comic book counterparts.

"Marvel Studios' The Eternals features an exciting new team of Super Heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ancient aliens who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, an unexpected tragedy forces them out of the shadows to reunite against mankind's most ancient enemy, The Deviants," the synopsis on ComicBook.com explains.

Let's go down the list of some of the stand-out moments from the trailer, shall we?

For one, we have the House of Stark brother reunion we've been waiting for. So what if they're a little far from Winterfell! A Stark must always be in the MCU or whatever Ned Stark said.

Kit Harrington, famous for his role in Game of Thrones as Jon Snow, will be playing the role of Dane Whitman, who (spoiler alert, maybe?) becomes the Black Knight in the comics and owns a mystical sword. Richard Madden, known for his Game of Thrones role as Robb Stark, will play Ikaris, the Eternals "leader," or at least they let him believe that. He'll have the standard powers of an Eternal and the ability to shoot cosmic beams.

Second, this is our first real look at Angelina Jolie as Thena. An action movie superstar already in her own right, taking on a superhero movie should be no problem for Jolie. In the comics, Thena not only has the standard abilities of an Eternal, but her hand-to-hand combat is elite. According to a new character description, she'll have the ability to form any weapon out of cosmic energy in the movie.

Next, the trailer also gave us a first look at Lauren Ridloff as Makkari. Lauren will be playing the first deaf superhero in an MCU film. According to ComicBook.com, "Makkari is the fastest woman in the universe. She uses her cosmically powered super-speed to scout planets for the Eternals, and as the only deaf Eternal, the sonic boom that accompanies her cosmic running does not affect her." You will see her in the trailer reading a book super fast and using her super speed to save a child.

Finally, we got hit with a harsh reminder that both Captain Rogers and Tony Stark are "gone," as the Eternals reflect in the trailer as we all have on what the Avengers might do next. Personally, I'm not ready to accept this truth.

For the Steve Rogers fans, the MCU is once again reminding us that he's "gone," but they never say that he's dead, just like they never referred to him as dead in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Maybe, he really is in a retirement home on the moon, or at least that's what I'm choosing to believe no matter what the MCU tries to tell me.

While the trailer still has us guessing, it gives just enough for me to want to book my ticket now. I personally would love things to be kept quiet so that everything comes as a surprise when we see it in theatres.
